Taiwan

You can apply for a Resident visa for Investment if you want to invest and settle in the Republic of China (ROC, Taiwan).

You must put $200,000 into an active business, an investment fund, or any other investment that contributes to Taiwan’s economy. You will keep your resident permit as long as you keep the investment and stay in Taiwan for 183 days per year. Your dependents may be eligible for residency if they are linked to your residence permit.

You can apply for a permanent residence permit after 5 years of continuous legal stay. To be eligible, you must have spent at least 183 days in Taiwan each year, had a monthly salary of at least double the minimum wage set by the Council of Labor Affairs, and have a net worth of at least NTD5,000,000.

Alternatively, if you have invested NTD15,000,000 in a firm and created 5 full-time jobs for ROC citizens over the course of three years, or if you have invested NTD30,000,000 in ROC government bonds over the course of three years, you may apply for Permanent Residency. You will not be required to be physically present in Taiwan during your residency under this plan.

You can also seek naturalization after 5 years of continuous lawful residency. Each application is considered on its own merits, but you will typically be required to be a tax resident for at least 5 years, have no criminal history, pass a Chinese-Mandarin language exam, understand Taiwanese laws and regulations, be a skilled professional, and demonstrate financial self-sufficiency (with twice the minimum wage and a net worth over NTD5,000,000).
